Lil’s Salad Dressing

Ingredients

| Butter | ½ cup | |
| Sugar | ¾ cup | |
| Cornstarch | 3 Tbsp | |
| Dry Mustard | 3 tsp | |
| Egg | 5 | Yolks only |
| Half + Half | 1 cup | |
| Vinegar | 1 cup | |
| Salt | 1 tsp |
Method
- Separate eggs and discard whites
- Beat egg yolks well
- Mix butter, sugar, cornstarch, mustard, and beaten egg yolks
- Cook in top of double boiler
- When it begins to thicken, stir in Half+Half and Vinegar
- Stir until very thic
- Remove from heat and cool
- Using an egg beater, beat in salt
- Beat until creamy
Notes From Gran
- Store in an airtight container in refrigerator until used
- Thin with sweet or sour cream is needed
