For Dumplings

| Baking Powder | 1 tsp | |
| Salt | ¼ tsp | |
| Milk | ½ cup | |
| Eggs | 1 | Lightly beaten |
For Soup

| Salt Pork | ½ lb | |
| Potatoes | Raw - diced | |
| Asparagus | 1½ cups | cooked - keep liquid |
| Milk | 1 quart | Hot - not boiling |
Method
- Cut Salt Pork into 1-inch cubes
- Cook salt pork for 45 minutes; prepare remaining ingredients while pork is cooking
- Cook Asparagus cuts and tips
- Drain asparagus preserving liquid
- Dice raw potatoes
- Lightly beat egg for dumplings
- Add ½ cup milk and dry dumpling ingredients to beaten egg
- Lightly mix dumpling batter with fork
- Once the salt pork is done cooking add potates and cooked asparagus
- Use the asparagus liquid to cover the pork, potatoes and asparagus
- Cook until potatoes are done
- Drop teaspoon-sized dumplings
- Cover and cook for 15 minutes
- Heat 1 quart of milk without brining it to a boil
- Add hot milk to soup and serve immediately
