Ingredients

Chestnuts    
Baking Soda ¼ tsp For dried chestnuts

Method

  1. Cut a cross with a sharp knife on the flat side of each chestnut
  2. Place in a saucepan and cover with water
  3. Bring to a boial and remove from heat
  4. Take out a few chestnuts at a time
  5. Peel off outer and inner skins while hot
  6. Cover shelled chestnuts with water and simmer until tender
  7. Drain

For Dried Chestnuts

  1. Add baking sode to water and bring to a boil
  2. Cover dried chestnuts with baking soda water
  3. Soak overnight
  4. Boil chestnuts in the soaking water until tender
  5. Peel skins

  • Chstnuts are very good in turkey stuffing
