Ingredients

Ingredient Amount Notes
Chicken 1 “Frying chicken” - Cut up
Seasoned Flour    
Crisco    
Butter   For casserole
Salt    
Pepper    
Paprika    
Cream Of Mushroom Soup 1 can  
Cream Of Chicken Soup 1 can  
Sauterne ½ cup This is a sweet wine - Use Sauterne or Sherry, not both
Sherry ½ cup Use Sauterne or Sherry, not both
Onions 1 bag Optional - Frozen

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 350 °F
  2. Butter Casserole dish
  3. Cut up frying chicken
  4. Shake chicken in seasoned flour
  5. Brown Chicken in Crisco
  6. Place into buttered Casserole
  7. Add generous amounts of salt, pepper, and Paprika
  8. Add soups, undilted
  9. Add Sauterne or Sherry
  10. Add bag of frozen onions, if desired
  11. Refrigerate at this point, if preparing ahead of time
  12. Bake 1 hour
